It is no secret that St. Louis is struggling along with the rest of America in dealing with Covid-19. On the employment front people are facing reduced workplace hours or being completely laid-off. With schools closed, those with jobs are struggling to arrange daycare, and with children home now during the day, family grocery bills are increasing at a time when some food items are in short supply. Shopping malls, big box retailers, mom and pop shops, local attractions and community events all have either closed or been postponed. As of March 23rd a “stay at home” order has been in place, making day-to-day life even more difficult. Things are tough at the moment but Staffing One Services is still here and working diligently to help you and your family during this time.
The following is a comprehensive list of services for those affected by Covid-19.
- Gateway Resilience Fund has been organized by the St. Louis Community Foundation to provide assistance to the owners and employees of independent bars, restaurants and retail shops in and around the greater St. Louis area. They are currently accepting both donations and applications.
- Good for Grove is a 100% tax deductible GoFundMe campaign created by the owners of Takashima Records for restaurant and bar service workers in the Grove neighborhood. Funds raised will also go toward the preparation of daily meals for affected service industry employees.
- St. Louis Artist Relief Fund. Many artists also work in the service industry in order to supplement their income. There has been a GoFundMe campaign set up for the financial support of local artists whose livelihoods have been upended due to the pandemic.
- St. Louis Area Foodbank has increased mobile distribution stations including specific Covid-19 Relief Boxes in high risk, high need and low access neighborhoods. They have begun partnering with schools to assist in distributing these boxes. Each event is geared to support up to 300 families. The St. Louis Area Foodbank is also continuing its ongoing support of over 500 agencies and community program partners. Please click here for a pantry near you. Then in order to reduce the amount of social exposure for our most vulnerable citizens, the Foodbank will supply 2 months of seniors’ boxes in a single delivery.
- Stray Rescue has opened a pet food pantry and will provide a bag of dog food to any pet parent in need. They ask you call 314-771-6121 or email Julia to schedule a convenient pick-up time. Stray Rescue also encourages you to bring your own container if possible.
